Sensitivity Comparison of Immuno-Histochemical and Histopathological Approaches for Diagnosis of Rabies in Animals

چکیده
FAT is a gold standard and validated diagnostic test that confirm the presence of rabies virus in brain tissue. However, sophisticated laboratory infra-structure and highly trained personnel are required for conducting rabies diagnosis by immunofluorescence. On the other hand, immunohistochemistry (IHC), with its immunological approach of antigen detection is expected to be close to FAT in sensitivity of detection of rabies in brain tissues. IHC is also feasible on formalin fixed histological sections in most of the laboratories where routine histopathological approach is feasible. IHC is expected to detect rabies antigen that is not discernible with histopathological examination. Thus, the present study was envisaged to elucidate the feasibility of IHC International Journal of Current Microbiology and Applied Sciences ISSN: 2319-7706 Volume 6 Number 4 (2017) pp. 400-405 Journal homepage: http://www.ijcmas.com

Designing of Immuno-capture ELISA assay kit for rabies vaccine potency
Background: Potency evaluation of rabies vaccine is a cheap, fast, high precision and consistent with ethical values is critical, so researchers have modified a variety of methods such as: National Institute of Health (NIH) method, Single Radial Immunodiffusion (SRID) and so on. The purpose of the present study was to replace an in vitro method consistent with medical ethics criteria instead of...
متن کاملEfficacy Study of Immuno-histochemical Approach for Diagnosis of Rabies in Dogs
Twenty seven dog brain tissues were examined for rabies infection by fluorescent antibody technique, immunohistochemistry and Hemi-Nested Reverse Transcriptase (HnRT-PCR). 16 (59.25%) dogs were confirmed to be rabid by FAT and HnRT-PCR assay while 15 samples were positive by immunohistochemistry (IHC). Sensitivities of HnRT-PCR and IHC were 100% and 94.11% respectively whereas both approaches d...

متن کاملTissue eosinophils as a histopathological marker in oral premalignant and malignant lesions: a histochemical study
Introduction: Although recent studies show the association of eosinophils with different tumors including oral malignancies, the role of eosinophils in premalignant conditions of the oral cavity is not known precisely. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the number of eosinophils in premalignant and malignant conditions of the oral cavity and its role in progression to malignancy. Materia...
